Metal separation lines
Blue Sorter for ferrous scrap
Zato’s Blue Sort ferrous metal separation plants are designed for the separation and recovery of ferrous metals mainly from previously shredded car scrap, mixed collected scrap, household appliances, industrial offcuts and castings, etc.
These plants use a combination of mechanical, magnetic and sensor based technologies to efficiently extract ferrous and nonferrous metals into valuable individual high purity streams
Technologies used
Power supply
- Conveyor belt: used to transport materials to the separation plant.
Magnetic separation:
- Magnetic drums: used to separate ferrous metals from other materials.
The rotating drums contain powerful magnets that attract and hold the ferrous metals while the nonferrous material falls away.
This results in 2 distinct streams:
- Cumulation of ferrous E40 scrap cleaned and ready for casting.
- Cumulation of nonferrous material (can contain different metallic and nonmetallic materials depending on whether separation is applied to scrap processed by a hammer mill or a rotary and can be further separated with a nonferrous separation line).
