Zato at IFAT 2026: See the metal recycling process — LIVE
From 4 to 7 May 2026, Zato took part in IFAT Munich — the world’s leading trade fair for environmental technologies — with something no brochure can replicate: a fully operational metal recycling plant, running outdoors four times a day.
At the Outdoor stand FS911/1, visitors were able to watch the Blue Devil twin-shaft shredder and the Blue Sorter scrap separation line working together as an integrated system: from the input of mixed scrap to the clean, separated and market-ready output fractions.
Thank you to everyone who visited our stands to see our plants in action.
What did you see at IFAT 2026:
Blue Devil — Twin-shaft shredder
Built from high-strength steel and designed for the most challenging materials, the Blue Devil operates at low shaft speed to deliver high shredding torque without excessive dust or noise. It processes mixed ferrous and non-ferrous scrap — including bulky and difficult materials — reducing it into a clean, homogeneous fraction ready to feed directly into the separation line. Minimal fines, limited dust, and no need for expensive civil works or foundations.
Blue Sorter — Scrap cleaning line
Once the material exits the shredder, the Blue Sorter takes over. The cleaning line separates the processed stream into clean ferrous, Zorba, Zurik and residue fractions.
This is done using a hybrid magnetic drum for ferrous recovery and an Eddy Current Separator for non-ferrous metals including aluminium, copper and brass.
