Zato’s Blue Devil Rotary Shear revolutionizes scrap metal recycling: Allied Scrap Processors Inc. shares success story

Frank Giglia, co-owner of Allied Scrap Processors Inc. in Lakeland, Florida, shares his firsthand experience with Zato’s Blue Devil Twin Shaft shredder. “The beauty of the Zato Blue Devil lies in its simplicity”, says Giglia. Since its installation in 2021, the Blue Devil has been a reliable workhorse, seamlessly processing between 60 and 80 tons of material daily, much more than what the facility’s shear already was handling.

How does the Blue Devil enhance your competitive edge?

“We can compete for material much better because we have that upgrade capability now”, Giglia says. “We’re really not buying any different material; we are just getting better prices because it is shredded and prepared.

How does the Blue Devil contribute to material upgrade?

Zato’s Blue Devil “it’s a real simple machine and it runs all the time”, Giglia says. “It prepares the material well and produces a high grade of scrap, comparable to No. 1 [heavy melting] steel.”

Why did you choose the Blue Devil to perform the task?

“It’s a very well-made machine”, he says. “That’s important. To me, it’s pretty much a beast for what the application is. It’s got to have material that it can grip and tear apart, and it’s doing a heck of a job on it.”
